Object Description:
U.S. RIFLE T44 .30 (T65E3) SN# 19
Manufactured by Springfield Armory, Springfield, Ma. - Gas-operated (expansion-cutoff) with many components common to T20E2 and M1. T44 is a modified design of the T20E2 for lightweight and is capable of full or semi-automatic fire. Cyclic rate of fire 800 rpm. Weapon weighs approximately 8 1/4 lbs. Magazine missing.
Markings:
Receiver: U.S. RIFLE CAL..30 T44 19.
Weapon transferred to the Museum on 5 May 1960. At that time it was appraised at $250.
