U.S. PISTOL T4.1 9MM SN# 1
Manufactured by Colt, Hartford, Ct. - Experimental. Double-action, blow-back operated, aluminum alloy frame, staggered box magazine. Complete with detachable box magazine. Triggerguard missing.
Markings:
Frame: T4.1.
Magazine: JI.
Weapon transferred to the Museum on 21 May 1965. At that time weapon was appraised at $100.00.
Exhibit label: "COLT T4 AUTOMATIC (EXPERIMENTAL) - Another version of the light weight pistol was developed to fire the 9 millimeter Parabellum cartridge. Colt, shown here, Smith & Wesson, and High Standard offered specimens, but none met the Army's expectations, and the project ended in the early 1950s."
