Object Description:

SPANISH REVOLVER COPY OF SMITH & WESSON .38 SN# 16
Manufactured by Garate Anitua & Co., Eibar, Spain - An exact copy of Smith & Wesson top-break revolver. 5-shot, bird-head grips with lanyard ring. Blued finish with checkered wood grips with lanyard loop in butt. Small chip of wood out of left grip. It is believed British Home Guard units were armed with this type of revolver in WWI.

Markings:
Barrel: GARATE ANITUA & CO. EIBAR SMITH & WESSONS CARTRIDGES/THERE THAT FIT BEST THE EXTRA BRETON REVOLVER. USE SMITH WESSONS CARTRIDGES.
Frame under grips: J?16. (Inside): 16 appears stamped on the cylinder and is also written in pencil inside the grips.
Grips: Logo for Garate Anitua & Co.
