Object Description:

U.S. RIFLE GRENADE LAUNCHER M7A3
Manufactured by Sun Ray Photo, N.Y., N.Y. - The grenade launcher M7A3 is used for launching grenades and ground signals from the U.S. M1, M1C (Sniper's) or M1D (Sniper's) rifle. It is composed of a sleeve (tube) having a series of annular rings around its periphery, attached to a bracket. The main difference between M7A3 launcher and the grenade launcher M7A2 is the increased body length which provides higher velocity with flatter trajectory, hairpin type retainer spring in place of a coil spring. Extra range rings are included in the longer body. The model number of the launcher is stamped on the body. With the grenade in place on the launcher, the rings are used in conjunction with the angle of elevation to determine range. The greater number of rings exposed, the shorter the range. As the angle of elevation is increased, the range is increased. Complete with original cardboard container and wrapper and in good condition.
