Object Description:
BRITISH BAYONET PATTERN 1888 MARK II 1ST TYPE
Manufactured by Robert Mole, Birmingham, England - Straight two-edged blade. It is fixed under the barrel; the bar and head of the cleaning rod fitting into the recess of the hilt. Two piece wood grips held by two brass rivets. Approved for adoption on 25 February 1890. Bayonet once attached to SPAR-5808.

Blade: Arrow/WD. Crown/B/36. X. MOLE. 9/92. Crown/B35 twice.
Notes: "Mole, Robert & Sons - Broad Street, and 11 Great Chapel Street, London, England, 1844-99 or later. Exhibited fine 'manaluke' and regulation Army and Navy swords at the International Exhibition, London, 1851. Made military and naval weapons that were imported into the Confederate States of America during the Civil War. These arms are usually maked with the name of the importer and are stamped 'Mole' on the back of the blade." - Gardner
