Notes: "330 Weaver - First scope used on early WWII M1903A4. These scopes have the commercial nomenclature markings and 'SERIAL NUMBER' roll engraved on the scope tube below the right side of the adjustment knob mounting plate. The military serial number was electro-etched (not vibrator engraved) into the tube following the 'SERIAL NUMBER MARK." - Harrison

"Weaver's finest hunting telescope is the 330 or 440. The 330 has a magnification of 2 3/4X and the 440 of 4X. The former has a field of view of 35 feet and the latter 27 feet.
The 330 has a listed eye relief of 3 1/2 inches but actual tests show that this can be used at all eye distances from 3 to 5 1/2 inches without trouble and Weaver now lists this information in his literature. The 440 does not have the latitude and is listed as 3 1/4-inch eye relief.
Weaver's 330 and 440 telescopes are identical except in power. The length of the lower power is 10 1/2 inches while the higher runs 11 1/4 inches, and it is supplied complete with mounts to weigh 10 1/8 ounces for the 330 and 10 1/2 ounces for the 440. All adjustments for the 330, 440, 29S and 329 plus other Weaver telescopes are internal adjustments for both elevation and windage.
On the 330 and 440 two different types of adjustments are available. The first is the standard 1/4-minute clicks and the latter would be desirable. The price is the same in both instances. Reticules supplied include either crosshair or flat-top tapered posts in all Weaver scopes, and lenses are double cemented compound achromatic types fully corrected. Focus is universal from about 25 feet to infinity.
The interesting thing about the Weaver 330 is its price - only $27.50 in the 1938 model complete with Weaver's low-priced mounts. The mount leaves quite a bit to be desired but a special mount has been designed by the Redfield Gun Sight Corporation of Denver, Colo., to fit this scope. The Redfield mount was designed in co-operation with Weaver and both firms will supply these scopes fitted with the Redfield mounts at a reasonable price." - Philip B. Sharpe
