Object Description:
POWDER FLASK
Manufactured by American Flask & Cap Co., Waterbury, Ct. - Large copper powder flask with brass patent top and adjustable charger with four carrying rings. Body of flask has very nice shell design - see Riling's #365 or #379. Complete and in very good condition.
Markings:
Top of flask: AM FLASK & CAP CO. American Flask & Cap Co. were the successors to Frary,
Benham & Co. and SPAR-7955 is an almost identical flask made by them.
Powder flask donated to the Springfield Armory NHS by Tufts University (Victor A. Friend Collection) on 3 August 1979.
Friend's #A-34 - "Large Copper Powder Flask. 7 1/2 inch. Scallop shell design. Graduated, brass nozzle with inside valve spring. Has two pairs of rings for carrying cord. Marked 'American Flask & Cap Company.'"
Notes: Interestingly enough, American Flask & Cap Co. were the successors to Frary, Benham & Co. and in this collection (SPAR-7955) is an almost identical flask made by them.
