Object Description:
SPANISH MACHETE
Made in Spain - Unmarked Spanish machete type weapon with a very definite military appearance. Broad, slightly curved and unfullered blade with brass cross guard and wood grips. Has black leather scabbard with brass throat and tip, greatly resembling a Ames' short sword. Machete has a definite military flavor to it - not the usual sugar cane chopper. Scabbard is 18" long and in fair condition.
No visible markings.
Machete donated to the Springfield Armory NHS by Tufts University (Victor A. Friend Collection) on 3 August 1979.
