GERMAN PISTOL MAUSER MODEL 1934 (P.34) 7.65MM SN# 590502
Manufactured by Mauserwerke, Oberndorf, Germany - German semi-automatic, blowback-operated, pistol. Push button safety release, cocking indicator. Fixed sights. One-piece checkered wood grips. Navy issue. Navy property number: N (North Sea Fleet.) Weapon weighs approximately 1.32 lbs. empty.
Markings:
Frame: 502 (front grip N/7008).
Slide: 590502, MAUSER-WERKE A.G. OBERNDORF A.M. Right side: CAL. 7.65 D.R.U.A.P.
Sideplate: 502. Mauser logo. German Navy acceptance stamp - Bird/wreath/M.
Barrel: SN unclear.
Magazine: Mauser logo but not Navy issue.
Exhibit label: "MODEL 1934 6.35 millimeter - The M1934 was a cleaned-up version of the design that first appeared in 1910. It was originally produced as a commercial pistol but, with the outbreak of the war, became a substitute standard pistol issued largely to the Air Force and Navy."
Notes: When WWII broke out in 1939, the entire stock of these weapons, and subsequent production, was taken into military service, largely being issued to the German Navy and Air Force.
