Object Description:

SPANISH PISTOL ASTRA MODEL 600/43 (P(ASTRA)600/43) 9MM SN# 4716
Manufactured by Unceta y Compania, Guernica, Spain - Standard semi-automatic pistol with 8-round box feed magazine manufactured in Spain for Germany in WWII. Blue finish with two-piece checkered walnut grips. Weapon weighs approximately 33 oz. Complete with 8-round detachable box magazine. Finish worn. Metal pitted. Weapon in fair condition.

Markings:
Frame: German Eagle/WaA020/4716. Spanish proofs.
Slide: 4716, UNCETA Y COMPANIA S.A./GUERNICA, ESPANA/Spanish proofs/Astra trade mark.
Barrel: PIST. PATR. 08/Spanish proof. Military acceptance = 20.
Magazine: Astra trade mark.

Weapon found in one of "29 Boxes of Miscellaneous Foreign Weapons as received from New York Port of Embarkation on 6 March 1946, per SA OOO.4/17 and 28. Note: Itemized list showing quantities and descriptions of individual weapons to be attached and made part of this voucher promptly upon completion of checking in of weapons in Experimental-Laboratory, Building No. 28. Weapon to be retained in Experimental-Laboratory for an indefinite period for examination and study per Mr. P.W. Oliver, 11 March 1946, after which they will be regreased and boxed suitable for storage and place with other Museum Material in Building #19 pending reopening of the Armory Museum."

At the request of Mr. S.W. Fish, Project Control, this weapon was loaned to SPAR R&D Division on 21 March 1951.
