Object Description:

GERMAN PISTOL ORTGIES 6.35MM SN# 183556
Manufactured by Deutsche Werke, Erfurt, Germany - Standard Ortgies pocket semi-auto pistol. Blowback-operated, striker fired. Fixed blade front, fixed-V-notch rear sight. 6-groove-rifling, right hand twist. Constructed without screws using pins and spring-loaded catches. Blued finish with two-piece wood grips with monogram. Weapon weighs approximately 14 oz. empty. Missing left grip. Metal rusted. Magazine jammed.

Barrel: Crown/N/CAL. 6.35MM.
Frame: Crown/N. GERMANY/183556.
Slide: DEUTSCHE WERKE. Logo. WERK ERFURT. Right side: ORTGIES PATENT.
Grip: DW logo.

Weapon transferred to the Museum from the Aberdeen Museum on 30 March 1960.
